ITIL V3, the latest version of the IT Infrastructure Library (ITIL), represents a significant advancement for the practice of Business Service Management (BSM). Changes in ITIL V3 include the restructuring of the library into a service lifecycle framework with lifecycle stages that include Service Strategy, Service Design, Service Transition, Service Operation, and Continuous Service Improvement. ITIL V3 also refines the definition of the Configuration Management Database (CMDB) and introduced a more powerful system, the Configuration Management System (CMS), in which the CMDB fits. Through exploration of the broad portfolio of IT management offerings from ASG, this white paper addresses how IT organizations can bridge the gap from ITIL V2 to V3 with products that fit in each stage of the ITIL V3 Service Lifecycle.
